Four Canadian projects are chosen for the finals of
the World Architecture Festival in Barcelona |
| |
Montreal, August 7, 2008 – Four Canadian projects have been chosen among the 224 finalists unveiled by the jury of the World Architecture Festival (WAF), a world-class event that will be held from October 22 to 24, 2008, in Barcelona. These projects have been retained among more than 700 architectural projects presented by 63 countries.

| The selected Canadian projects are : |

Quai des Cageux - Promenade Samuel-De Champlain, a project carried out in Quebec City, including an access to St-Laurent River, as well as a panoramic tower, a realization of Daoust Lestage inc. architecture design urbain, finalist in the Holidays category.
You You International, a multifunction complex erected in Shanghai, China, by B+H Architects, finalist in the Home & Housing category.
Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre, a interior-exterior cultural centre built in Osoyoos, British-Columbia, by Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden Architects, finalist in the Holiday category.
Pictou Landing Health Center, a health centre built in Trenton, Nova Scotia, by PDI - Piskwepaq Design Inc., finalist in the Health category.

During the Festival, the finalists’ masterpieces, divided into 16 categories, will be officially presented before the public and the WAF jury. The winners of each category will then have to defend their project in front of a «super jury» in order to win the prize crowning the Festival, The World Building of the Year 2008. Chaired by Lord Norman Foster, the jury is composed of internationally renowned architects, among which Richard Meier and Zaha Hadid, of specialized critics, of clients and of associates originating from the five continents. This event benefits from an exceptional press coverage, through partnerships developed with the specialized media from more than 23 countries. |
